My sister-in-law has a friend that is due THIS MONTH! So at the end of last month (February) she asked if I could quickly make up a baby blanket. I, of course, said "Sure!"

The mom didn't have any theme picked out but she loves owls. So, here is what we came up with.

I just did a simple stripe with double crochet and then added a Owl Applique, and some leaves. I did the branch just by chaining 46 and then doing DC, HDC, SC and Sl Stitches back across.

I also did a crab stitch for the border which is just a single crochet in reverst. So, instead of crocheting from right to left you do it left to right.

As I was nearing the end I let my SIL know that I had enough yarn leftover to make a newborn owl hat if she wanted and she said YES!

The newborn size hats are SO. TINY! They're adorable.
